Community Service

Looking Ahead:

-Local bands 2nd annual Music Benefit, Saturday October 28th, noon to dusk, needs 10+ kids to work, for about 6 hours – bus tables,  help clean-up, ticket sales, raffle sales, and a little bit of "go-fer" work. Proceeds go to the Tularcitos Music Program, Seaside High Music Program, and the Osgood Family Fire Fund. Contact Lori Carter at 917-4735 or online at gypsyorlori@hotmail.com.

-Apple Pie PreSchool needs help selling coffee and donuts at the Big Sur River Run on Oct 21st between 8:00 am and 12:30 pm. Contact Vicky at 667-2921x21.

Continuing Opportunities:

-A group of students, led by Alex Pike, is forming a team to walk for JDRF (the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) on Oct 15th starting at Lovers Point in Pacific Grove. Want to get involved? Find him on campus or talk to Ms Rosen. If you want to help in other ways contact Jennifer Stokes at (415) 597-6303.

-The River School Fall Festival this year will be Friday, Oct 27th from 3 to 5pm. Six students are needed for the face painting and tattoo booths. Any River School alumni out there? Call Rachel Wahl at 915-4033 to volunteer.

 

New Today

·  To our patient SENIORS – last, but not least – come CELEBRATE our fantastic STAR testing results today! The ASB is treating you to free soft-serve ice cream so come to the area outside the computer lab TODAY at lunch and pick up your treat. School ID card is required!

·  Hey, all Padres!! Come and walk behind your class in the Homecoming parade tomorrow! Meet at your floats in Carmel on Junipero and Mountain View at 3:30!! Hope to see you all there!

·  CSU Monterey Bay will host an open house on Saturday, October 14th. Seniors, if you apply online using CSU Mentor and get your transcripts sent to CSUMB by October 8th, you can find out on October 14th if you are admitted! Check-in begins at 8:00 am. Talk to your counselor if you need help with your application.

·  Students, need some money? Talbot’s at Carmel Plaza and Sandcastles in the Barnyard are advertising retail jobs for CHS students in the College & Career Center.

·  Sophomores and juniors – Remember, the PSAT is on Wednesday, October 18th. Pick up a study guide in the College & Career Center if you don’t already have one.

 

Repeated Information

·  Homecoming dance tickets are on sale today and tomorrow during lunch in the breezeway. $15 with an ASB stamp, $20 without. Tickets will not be sold at the door. Bringing a guest to the dance? Guest forms are due by Friday at lunch.

·  Homecoming activities coming up include: FRIDAY – Rally before lunch, Parade at 4:00, Powderpuff at 7:00; SATURDAY: Football games at 11:30 (JV) and 2:00 (V), Dance from 8:00 to 11:00.

·  Attention homecoming dance attendees! We will be using a new procedure starting with this week’s dance in order to assure that everyone observes the expectations for decorum. With regard to inappropriate dance behavior, at the first warning, the dancer’s ID card will be confiscated; at the second warning, the dancer will be asked to leave.

·  It’s still not too late! Yes, if you had at least three A’s and a B last semester, YOU TOO may still qualify for CSF membership. Application deadline is October 27th. It’s fast, it’s fun, it’s free! See Mr. Postovit for an application.

·  Homecoming Week! Celebrate by dressing for Movie Themes – today your favorite Heroes, and tomorrow, of course, is all about Padre Power, so dress RED & GRAY – all the way!

·  Any person interested in the JDRF Walk to benefit Juvenile Diabetes research on October 15th should stop by room 36 to get “Walk” forms and information

·  STUDENTS: If you would like to attend the homecoming dance, you must have a new DANCE AGREEMENT on file. Also, you must have a STUDENT ID card. No student will be admitted to the dance without a student ID card and a current dance agreement on file – no exceptions.
